Stage West has produced yet another smash hit musical revue, this time delivering the heart & soul of the Motown era!
1960, Detroit, Michigan. Berry Gordy, Jr. incorporates Motown Records, the first African-American owned record label featuring African-American artists who infused a “soul” into the music industry. The Motown sound was not just a fad. It was the future of pop music as it united cultures, forever influencing the music industry with jazz horns, R&B piano and gospel voices. Motown churned out artist after artist with hit after hit starting with The Marvelettes, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and The Temptations. Later came Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Jackson 5, Gladys Knight & The Pips and The Commodores plus many more throughout the ’60s and ’70s.
