Press preview and cocktail of Designed in Brussels in Milan : 15 April at 17:30 – Zona Tortona, Via Voghera 8, Milan Brussels design in Milan – 14 > 19 April 2010 (within the framework of the ‘Belgians in Milan’ – www.lesbelges.org)

If you are in Milan between 14 and 19 April for the Salone Internazionale del mobile, Brussels Export invites you to discover two exhibitions by Brussels designers (see underneath) taking place in the Zona Tortona area. The designers of the 101% program (Nathalie Dewez, Jean-François D’Or | Loudordesign studio, Chevalier-Masson, Hugo Meert and Lhoas & Lhoas) and Alain Berteau will be present during the fair and are available for interviews (on request). 1) 101% Designed in Brussels Within the framework of the « 101% Designed in Brussels » program, Brussels Export invites five design studio’s :

Nathalie Dewez (designer of lighting systems), Jean-François D’Or (Loudordesign studio, industrial designer), Chevalier Masson (textile designers), Hugo Meert (ceramics designer), Lhoas & Lhoas (architects and designers).

After taking part at the Stockholm Furniture Fair at the beginning of the year, the selection is now on its way to the Milan International Furniture Fair. The five designers are presenting numerous premiers in the Zona Tortona, the heart of the Italian design world. Later in the year, ‘101% Designed in Brussels’ will be participating in a furniture show in London (23-26 September).

The function Brussel Export fulfils for the design sector is that of supporting the international promotion and growth of a number of up-and-coming Brussels designers both economically and commercially. To ensure the success of that task, Brussels Export works with Designed in Brussels. The objective of the ‘101% Designed in Brussels’ program is to allow the Brussels talents to participate in a number of international design fairs over the space of a year, in order to develop their international appeal and improve their export opportunities.

2) Alain Berteau Brussels-based architect and designer Alain Berteau (°1971) has always been committed to developing and promoting relevant design solutions through innovative typologies and functional improvements. His work has been produced by companies such as Montis, spHaus, Bulo, Feld, Lensvelt, Vange and Magazin. His original architecture practice has evolved into an award-winning product and interior design agency, which was the first to receive the Interieur Kortrijk Biennale designer of the year award in 2006. The exhibition “Alain Berteau Design Works, Brussels” showcases new designs by Alain Berteau and focuses on his most recent collaborations with leading Belgian brands AGC, Aquamass, Aluci, Atoma, Betools, RVB and Tamawa. A range of new products designed, developed and often even produced in the European capital will be unveiled as part of the show which will include furniture, lamps, a bathtub, faucets, stationary and accessories.
