Since 2007, Belgian design presents itself in Milan through a formula that displays its richness and variation: young designers, designers who co-operate with foreign firms, industrial designers, designers from Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia … People and objects, individuals and collectives, private and public institutions: the design from this country is united once more under the header [les belges] that from 2010 onwards will also become a portal site www.lesbelges.org, a new information service for the press, portraying the Belgian vision of ‘unity in diversity’. Designed in Brussels, Brussels Export, Design Flanders, Flanders Investment and Trade, and Wallonie-Bruxelles Design/Mode (WBDM) – the institutions supporting design and exports for the three Belgian regions, as well as the Belgian designers and companies, invite you to come and discover their latest novelties and submerge into creativity and knowhow ‘made in Belgium’ through a diverse and complete presentation of this country’s design. As if you were walking along a multifaceted cultural crossroads (the trajectory will be included in the plan distributed during the design week), [les belges] welcome you at the following locations during the Design Week 2010 from 14 to 19 April:

iSaloni > Salone Satellite Milan Fairgrounds, Rho (Milan)

WBDM presents Powers of Tenten designers from Wallonia and Brussels Emmanuel Bauthier – Loïc Detry – Déborah Franquet – Emmanuel Gardin – Marie Gobert – Pauline Gorelov – Vincent Olm – Olivier Pitot – Stuut – Mathias van de Walle

Wallonie-Bruxelles Design/Mode presents ten designers and their interior design novelties: lighting systems, wall coverings, tables and cupboards, seats and furniture accessories. The high technical standards and variety of materials characterise this edition’s selection: with prototypes destined for industrial production or for a limited series made by hand, these artists take an active part in the current questioning of the role of design in society and the environment, defending 10 diversified approaches in which the object clearly becomes part of a system of global, human and universal contemplation. A tribute to the great Eames…
